Italian mottled camouflage in 1:48, form four is a template with which an intricate pattern is applied without laborious masking.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is an airbrush template, thanks to which an intricate pattern gets onto a model without the lengthy laying of tape. The number four form is one of several by which the range is divided, and it has a layout of cutouts of its own. It is not enclosed with a kit and is bought separately as an accessory for painting.
Mottled and ringed camouflages appeared on the machines of the Mediterranean theater and are so characteristic of Italian equipment that without them a model looks unfinished. The density and the size of the blotches differed between the individual airframe manufacturers, so a faithful imitation calls first for some thought over the sources for the particular machine. Some airframe manufacturers placed the blotches densely side by side, while others left them scattered more thinly.
First finish the base coat and let it cure, then think out where the pattern passes over the panels and where it breaks over the wing. Proceed in smaller sections and turn the model as you go, so that the density of the blotches does not grow anywhere. It also pays to think out in advance how the pattern will join up around the national insignia and the lettering. At the end unify the surface with a varnish according to what finish you want.
Neither the model nor the paints are included with this item.
