Artwox Model 1:700 a deck masking template for the Japanese battleship Kii is a pre-cut mask that makes spraying the deck areas on a plastic kit easier.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a ship model, but a masking aid for a modeler who creates the deck in paint. The template is pre-cut to the shape of the deck areas of the given kit, so that a crisp, precise division arises between the shade of wood and the gray of the metal areas.
The template itself deals only with the outline of the deck. Before you start spraying, go over the model once more and cover what does not belong to the deck as well: clear windows, photo-etched railings already glued on, or parts that are to stay in their original color. In 1:700 a light overspray is enough for a small detail to disappear under a coat of paint. Masking fluid suits irregular shapes and narrow tape suits straight edges.
Apply the paint in several thin passes. One thick wet coat gets under the edge of a mask almost every time, whereas three light ones keep the edge clean. Lower the pressure and hold the nozzle perpendicular to the surface; a spray at an angle literally pushes the paint under the mask. Before removal, check that the paint has set, and peel the template off slowly, at a sharp angle back over itself.
The mask is cut for the particular Fujimi 460031 kit, so check the match with your version. Neither the kit nor paints are included in the package.
