Finnish wartime aircraft carried an olive green on their upper surfaces, and in the Lifecolor acrylic range it is represented by the shade Oliivin Vihreä — Olive Green (Finnish WWII Air Force).
Responsibility details are not available.
The dark olive green Oliivin Vihreä — Olive Green comes from the palette of the Finnish Air Force of the Second World War period; the maker gives both the Finnish name and the English translation directly in the product designation. On Finnish machines this was the main color of the upper surfaces, that is, the tone that will cover the largest part of the visible surface of a model.
Every air force approached camouflage with the same logic and with different means during the war. American machines got an olive area above and a gray below, British ones a two-color drawing, while Finnish aircraft had a dark olive green complemented by another dark element in an irregular drawing and a light shade on the undersides. The result differs from the American scheme above all in exactly that drawing: Finnish machines do not have uniform upper surfaces. The green is rich and dark at the same time, so on a model it benefits from being played out into several positions over large areas instead of staying flat.
It suits modelers who build Finnish wartime machines and want to assemble the palette from one acrylic range, since the maker keeps further Finnish shades alongside it. It will also serve as a general rich olive green wherever a dark tone without a brown shift is needed.
Store the paint in a well-closed container out of the reach of children, and ventilate while working.
