The replacement commander's cupola 1:35 Cupola for Tiger II bolted with drain slits w/o MG ring captures the bolted rendition with drain slits and without the ring for an anti-aircraft machine gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement commander's cupola for a model of the heavy tank Tiger II. It captures the variant with a bolted mounting and with drain slits, in the rendition without the ring for an anti-aircraft machine gun. It is precisely this combination that sets the set apart from the other cupolas of the same range, which have a welded mounting, the slits left out or, the other way round, the machine gun ring fitted.
The Königstiger was built from 1944 and its construction ran alongside changes in workshop practice. The commander's cupola was at first fixed to the turret roof by welding and later by bolts, and it gradually received slits through which rainwater drained away from around the vision ports. Only some of the machines carried the ring for a machine gun for defense against aircraft. The time of construction of a particular vehicle is therefore given away even by such a detail; on a vehicle with the Henschel turret, an 88 mm gun and a combat weight of around seventy tons it is one of the few quickly legible features.
Cut the original cupola off the kit and sand the opening in the turret roof flat, so that the new part sits down without a gap. Before gluing, make sure that the cutouts of the vision ports face the right way, as the cupola of the Tiger II is not symmetrical. Do the fitting before spraying, fill the gap and go over it with fine abrasive paper. You bring the drain slits out with a thin line of dark wash.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. You will not find the base model, paints or glue in the package.
