A set of miniature doors in 1:35 scale from Matho Models. This is a diorama prop, not a vehicle kit: doors are the basic building detail of every structure in a scene — and at the same time the element that diorama builders most often need to add to scratch-built walls, facades and ruins made of plaster or plastic sheet.
You can fit the doors into the facade of a town house, a barn or a workshop, and in a ruin you can place them torn off their hinges or leaning against a wall — among rubble they tell a story as strongly as a whole building. A single door also serves as the backdrop of a vignette with a figure standing in the doorway. The set suits both historical and modern subjects; the look is decided by the painting.
Layered painting gives wooden doors their credibility: a brown base, a dark wash into the panels and frames, a dry brush in a light shade along the edges. Chipped paint can be created with a sponge or with the hairspray technique — let the wood show through under the top color. Pick out the handle and hinges in a metal shade. Glue the doors into the masonry with super glue or PVA and frame the opening with a lintel made from plastic profile.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
