Responsibility details are not available.
This building is among the largest set pieces that can be put up in a military scene in 1:35 scale: with the sails it measures around forty centimeters. The mill thus dominates the scene much as it did the landscape it comes from. Equipment and figures are not the point here; it is a separate object that gives a scene shape and height.
The subject is a post mill, the oldest European type of wind power. The whole wooden body with the milling gear rests on a single vertical post and turns around it according to where the wind blows from; the miller turned it with a long tail pole from behind. From the sixteenth to the nineteenth century such buildings stood in their thousands in Germany, the Netherlands, France and Poland, and a number of them lived to see both world wars, when they served as a landmark and as an observation post alike.
Wood is the main theme here: a gray-brown base into which a lighter tone is rubbed along the grain will give the boards age. Try the sails dry right in place, so that you know how much room they need around them. The lower part of the structure will fit into the terrain better if the foot of the post is banked up with soil and low growth, so that the mill does not stand on the scene but grows out of it.
The mill comes unassembled and unpainted; tools and paints you buy separately.
