A resin set of wheels in 1:35 scale for the German Faun L900 heavy truck, in the form with tires of the Fulda brand. The set is not a model of the vehicle, it is an exchange of wheels on a kit already built. The manufacturer also makes a variant with tires from another supplier; the two differ in pattern and in the sidewall, so these are two separate goods.
The Faun L900 was a German heavy truck used for carrying loads and as a basis for special bodies. On vehicles of this class the tires came from several different suppliers and differed in tread pattern and in the lettering on the sidewall, so two otherwise identical vehicles looked different in a photograph. For a modeler building a particular truck, the choice of the right tire therefore matters as much as the camouflage pattern or the stowage on the bed.
Wash the wheels in warm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surfaces so that the vehicle stands straight. It is glued with super glue. Paint the tire a very dark gray with a brown cast, never pure black, and lift the lettering on the sidewall with a light dry brush so that it separates from the background. Paint the rim separately, as on vehicles of the period it tends to be in the shade of the body or dark gray. Add the dust from below, on the tread and in the lower part of the sidewall, and fade it upward so that the finish looks natural.
This is a resin accessory, not a complete kit. The wheels are supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
