A figure set in 1:35 scale with soldiers of the Free French as its subject. An addition to vehicle models and a diorama subject in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Free French were soldiers who, after the capitulation of France in 1940, refused to lay down their arms and went on fighting alongside the Allies. They were gathered from garrisons in the colonies, from refugees who came through Spain and from sailors who had stayed in British ports. They fought in North Africa, in Italy and in Normandy, and their armored division rode into Paris in August 1944. The emblem of the movement was the Cross of Lorraine. Their gear and weapons were mostly of British and American origin, because supply from home had fallen away, and it is that very mixture that gives their appearance its character.
These are figures in 1:35 scale, the most widespread size for military vehicles. They can be placed beside a vehicle, in a diorama or on a base of their own.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the spot down, then fill the seams, because every groove shows on a uniform. Wash and degrease the figures before painting. Faces are painted from a darker base toward lighter layers on the forehead, the nose and the cheekbones, and the eyes are better left merely suggested. A uniform benefits from being lightened on the folds over the base tone, with the shadow left in the grooves. Always try the figure in place beside the vehicle before you finish it, so that the arm and the line of sight sit right.
For modelers who add a crew to the vehicles they build, and for builders of dioramas of the Western Front. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
