A figure in 1:35 scale from Dynamo-Models. According to the name it represents a French tankman of 1940 and is built as the first item of a numbered range on the same subject. It suits dioramas from the French campaign as well as a display of its own in a cabinet.
The French armored forces of 1940 were among the most numerous in Europe and fielded machines such as the Renault R35, the Hotchkiss H39, the Somua S35 and the heavy Char B1 bis. The weakness lay not in the equipment but in the way it was used: tanks were parceled out to infantry units instead of being employed in concentration, and the commander often worked the gun himself, so he had no capacity left to direct the fight. You can tell the crews by the characteristic armored crewman's helmet with a padded rim and by the overalls or short leather jacket, which were easier to wear in the cramped space of a fighting vehicle than an ordinary uniform.
Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry. Leather items come out with a dark base, lightened edges and a gentle sheen, while canvas overalls call for a matte surface and thinned glazes into the folds. The armored crewman's helmet is a prominent element, so set it apart from the rest of the figure by color. The figure works best with its own vehicle, that is leaning out of the turret, resting against the running gear or standing by discarded tools during a repair.
