The G917T type was a three-ton truck built by the German branch of the Ford concern in Cologne. The truck was based on a civilian design, and in the second half of the 1930s and at the start of the war it reached the Wehrmacht in large numbers, where it carried out ordinary supply duties: moving ammunition, fuel, material and men. Later wartime batches were given simplified cabs because steel was being saved, so these trucks do not look the same from one period to the next. Ford was thus, alongside Opel, among the most common German trucks of the time.
