1:35 German Brummbar schurzen armor is an Eduard photo-etched set in 1:35 scale aimed at the side armor skirts, the Schürzen, of a Sturmpanzer IV model — metal parts for a kit, neither a mask nor a model.

A set of photo-etched parts by the Czech manufacturer Eduard for the side armor skirts, the Schürzen, on a model of the German Sturmpanzer IV in 1:35 scale. It differs from other photo-etched sets for the same vehicle by its narrow focus: it does not cover the small fittings of the hull but precisely the sheet skirts and their hangers. This is exactly where an etch makes the most sense — in reality these are thin plates that injection-molded plastic can never render in a matching thickness. The set is neither a vehicle kit nor a masking set.
On German armor of the Second World War the side skirts were mounted on the running gear and the sides of the hull as additional protection against anti-tank rifles and shaped-charge ammunition. They hung on simple brackets, bent easily and in the field were often missing or damaged. That is what makes them interesting for a modeler: unevenly bent or partly missing skirts look more believable than a perfectly straight row of plates.
Cut the skirts out with a scalpel on a hard surface and sand the tabs down so that no visible burrs are left on the edge. Degrease the metal with alcohol. Bend the brackets in a bending tool with a sharp jaw; large flat parts can be shaped by careful pressure over a cylindrical rod, or briefly annealed over a flame so that they soften. Simulate damage with slight bends and dents made from behind with a blunt point, or by cutting a notch, never by tearing — a steel plate does not tear into shreds in scale. They are bonded with super glue, and on long parts rather with the gel type so that there is time to position them. Apply a primer before painting. The skirts get dirty quickly, so pronounced dust and mud splatter suit them, while the upper surfaces of the hull can stay cleaner.
The set contains photo-etched parts only. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
