An accessory for a kit, not a kit itself. The package holds photo-etched parts from thin sheet, with which parts of a plastic model of the German Panther medium tank in the Ausf.A version in 1:35 scale are replaced or supplemented. Neither the model nor plastic parts are part of it; the set assumes you already own the Takom Panther Ausf.A kit. The extent of the set is given on the manufacturer's card.
The Panther is a German medium tank of the Second World War whose production began in 1943. Its design was defined by a steeply sloped frontal hull armor plate, a 7.5 cm gun with a long barrel and suspension with interleaved road wheels on torsion bars. The Ausf.A version is recognized by a reworked commander's cupola and a ball mount for the machine gun in the front of the hull. On the surface of the vehicle there are a number of elements that cannot be produced from plastic in the corresponding thickness — the grilles above the engine compartment, the fenders, tool brackets, eyes and clasps. That is where a photo-etched set comes into its own: the difference is visible above all on the grilles, through which the depth of the engine compartment can be seen on a model with thin metal.
Before work, degrease the brass with alcohol or a degreaser, because neither glue nor paint will hold on a greasy surface. Cut smaller parts off the fret on a hard surface rather than with nippers — otherwise the sheet will deform. Make the bends in a bending tool; for small parts two straight blades will do. Glue with superglue applied with the tip of a wire; excess glue shines on metal and creates a visible blemish once painted. Seat the grilles only after the surface underneath has been painted, so that heavy paint does not get under them. Apply a primer for metal surfaces to the finished metal and only then spray the base shade of the vehicle.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
