This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter captures the German Sd.Kfz.6 medium half-track in the engineer version (Pionierausführung). The richly broken-up kit contains parts on a number of sprues, clear and photo-etched parts and individual track links. The model builds the tractor with an open body for carrying engineer troops and equipment.
The Sd.Kfz.6 was the standard German medium half-track tractor of the Second World War. It served to tow artillery and to carry troops, as the body held up to roughly fifteen men. The engineer version (Pionierausführung) was adapted for engineer units, which carried tools, explosives and material for building and destroying obstacles and bridges. The half-track chassis gave the vehicle good cross-country performance.
First assemble the running gear and the individual track links, then the body. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and glue the clear parts with cement for clear parts. Spray the surface with a primer and apply the paint with an airbrush. The open interior of the body is worth painting before it is closed up; you suggest dust, mud and abrasion with washes, a dry brush and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
