A plastic kit of the British battleship HMS Prince of Wales in 1:700 scale captures the ship in her configuration of December 1941. The maker Flyhawk is known for the exceptionally fine detail of its moldings. The model is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted kit.
HMS Prince of Wales was a battleship of the King George V class of the Royal Navy. She entered service in 1941, took part in the pursuit of the German battleship Bismarck and was sent to Southeast Asia in the same year. On 10 December 1941 she was sunk, together with the battlecruiser HMS Repulse, by a Japanese air attack off the coast of Malaya. Her main armament consisted of 356 mm guns in turrets.
In 1:700 scale it pays to build the hull and the deck superstructures with the fine parts in mind. Consider adding photo-etched railings and radars. Use an airbrush for painting, in the shades of period British naval camouflage; pick the deck and the superstructures out with a wash and a dry brush. The model can be built as a full hull, or as a waterline version for a sea diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
