A figure of a German soldier in 1:35 scale. The maker sets the subject at the fighting for Kharkov in 1943.
Responsibility details are not available.
In 1943 Kharkov was the place of repeated fighting: the city changed hands several times over the course of the year and is among the most frequently treated subjects of the Eastern Front. The figure of a German soldier is tied to this setting by the name, so it suggests itself as an accessory for a scene with vehicles of the same period.
A figure does two things to a model at once. First, it gives a scene its scale: only next to a person can you tell how big a vehicle really is. Second, it gives the subject action, because the viewer's eye follows what the soldier is looking at or doing. That is exactly why a figure pays off even when you are not building a whole diorama and only want to bring a display base under a model to life.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting, because on an untreated surface the paint will crack. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down carefully so that the mating surfaces stay flat. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: for polystyrene a modeling cement for plastic, for resin and metal cyanoacrylate. Paint from the base shade through a darker tone rubbed into the folds of the cloth up to a lighter tone on the raised places; that makes the shapes of the uniform stand out even at a small scale. Leave the face and the hands until the end and work on them in good light, because the face decides the impression of the whole figure more than the equipment does.
The model of the vehicle, a base, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
