1:35 German tank crew in Afghanistan N°1 is the first part of the figure sub-range of German armored vehicle crewmen from the Afghan deployment in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The designation No. 1 in the name reveals that this is the first item of a multi-part sub-range from Black Dog. Figures from one sub-range keep the same scale and the same style of treatment, so they can be combined: out of several boxes you can put together a manned vehicle without the figures looking as though they had been gathered from different worlds.
In Afghanistan the German contingent moved mainly on wheeled armored personnel carriers and light patrol vehicles, in dusty and mountainous terrain. A more convincing scene will therefore come from open hatches, goggles pushed up onto the helmet and dusty equipment than from a tidy parade pose on clean hardware.
A figure seated too deep in a hatch looks as though it were kneeling inside; one seated too high, by contrast, suggests standing on the seat. Fine-tune the position, then, before you reach for the paint. Apply the undercoat thinly and evenly, because with the fine folds of a uniform a coarse base layer fills in exactly the detail you will never get back.
