A sheet of decals for figures in 1:35 scale with the insignia of the uniforms worn by members of the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. The set contains no figures and no plastic parts; it is an accessory for the last phase of the work, when the figure is already built and painted. It is sold in parts and this is part 4.
Check exactly what the sheet carries, in what quantity and how the individual parts of the series differ against the illustration on the packaging.
In 1:35 scale the insignia on a uniform measures a few millimeters. Only a few people can paint it so that the shapes and edges stay legible, and a single movement of the hand ruins the work. A decal gives crisp printing without the risk, and thanks to it a figure looks finished even close up or in a photograph taken with a macro lens.
The procedure is the same as with decals for vehicles, only at a much smaller scale. The base has to be glossy, smooth and dry, so go over the finished figure with gloss varnish before applying them. Cut the design out close to the printing, so that as little clear film as possible is left, and let it release from the backing in lukewarm water. Carry it with a damp brush or the tip of tweezers, so that the tiny printing does not break.
On the curved areas of a uniform a softener will help: the decal goes soft after it and settles even where it would otherwise stand like a sticker. Use it sparingly and let it work without interference. Once everything is completely dry, the matte coat comes; only that turns the decal into something that looks painted, and at the same time it protects it while the shadows are emphasized further.
The package contains decals only. Figures, paints, varnish and softener are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
