The photo-etched accessories Eduard 1:35 GPA amphibian 4x4 truck are intended for a model of the American amphibious quarter-ton vehicle of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of photo-etched sheet adds to a model of the floating vehicle the elements that cannot be cast in plastic: gratings, eyes, loops, small hinges and buckles on the tarpaulin and on the gear. Thin metal also has a historical logic here, since a boat on wheels was studded with fittings, grab handles and tie-down parts. The vehicle itself has to be obtained separately.
The US Army needed a small reconnaissance vehicle able to cross a river without a bridge, and so a proven four-wheel-drive chassis was given a boat hull, a propeller and a winch. The result was heavier and less nimble on land than the original vehicle and sensitive to waves on the water, and yet more than twelve thousand were built. A large part went in deliveries to the Soviet Union, where it proved itself in crossing river obstacles during the advance westward.
Glue the small buckles on only after the hull is painted, otherwise they will break off during masking. Use a steel rule for the bends, and on the smallest parts pressure from a razor blade is enough. Choose strong weathering: an amphibious vehicle used to be muddy up to the edge of the body, so dried deposits on the sides and lighter dust on the upper surfaces suit it.
