An injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli Shot Kal tank at the Gimel standard, with a battering ram added, that is, an engineer attachment carried on the front of the hull. The model in 1:35 scale is supplied as a set of plastic parts, unassembled and unpainted.
Shot Kal is the Israeli designation for tanks derived from the British Centurion that were rebuilt with an American diesel engine and a new transmission. That fundamentally improved range and maintenance compared with the original gasoline powerplant. The letters of the Hebrew alphabet in the designation, that is, Alef, Bet, Gimel and so on, distinguish the individual standards of modernization: they differ above all in fire control equipment, protection and details of the superstructure. The battering ram is a sturdy steel structure fixed to the front of the vehicle and used to breach walls, roadblocks and other obstacles in built-up terrain. Thanks to it the vehicle keeps the characteristic long hull of the Centurion but gains a markedly different silhouette from the front.
Finish the running gear and the side skirts first, and only then close the hull, so that the glued joints stay accessible. The battering ram is a heavy part with a long lever, so glue its mounts onto a well degreased and firmly seating surface and let the joint cure properly. The Sinai gray-yellow shade of Israeli vehicles looks best when, once laid down, you modulate it with lightened coats on the upper surfaces. Deal with dust and mud using pigments on the lower hull and the fenders, and suggest wear on the edges of the ram with a dark metal shade applied with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
