An accessory for building a diorama in 1:35 scale. The barrier serves to bound the space of a scene, to separate a driveway from a working area or to suggest a closed compound. In a diorama it fills two roles at once: it gives the scene a sense of scale and it leads the viewer's eye across the surface.
The 1:35 scale is the most common size for military equipment and figures, so the barrier can be brought into a combat scene as well as a rear-area one. It comes into its own at the entrance to a compound, around a repair area, beside a loading ramp and in an urban setting. It also works well as a foreground which marks off the edge of a base.
Before painting, wash the part in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry thoroughly. Choose the method of joining according to the material of the part; super glue holds universally. Apply the paint in thin layers. A metallic look is supported by a dark base, drybrushing with a lighter shade and a gentle bringing out of traces of corrosion at the foot of the barrier. Dusting the lower part will unify the accessory with the ground of the diorama. Small scuffs on the edges will suggest that equipment drives past the barrier every day.
