Photo-etched sheet comes into its own on a model wherever a part has to be thin and yet firm: on grilles, covers, hinges, eyes and small equipment. A plastic part cannot be made in that thickness, so kits carry one that is thicker and coarser than the subject. Swapping it for photo-etch is one of the few changes that even someone who sees the model for the first time and does not know the type of vehicle will notice. Hold the small parts with tweezers and work over a tray with a raised edge, because a photo-etched part is light and will spring away. Make the joint with a minute drop of cyanoacrylate glue, because cement for plastic has no effect on metal. Degrease the sheet before painting and spray it with a base coat for metal.
