Italian posters of the Second World War 1:35. A printed sheet from the home-grown Italian brand Royal Model for scenes on the Apennine peninsula.
Responsibility details are not available.
A printed sheet from the manufacturer Royal Model with a set of Italian notices in reduction. The brand is based in Italy, so this is a home subject worked up from its own sources. The cut-outs are glued to the walls, columns and shop windows of scenes set on the Apennine peninsula or in North Africa.
Italian poster work of the period has a different hand from the Anglo-Saxon: a stronger influence of Futurism, sharp diagonals, figures treated as sculpture and a lot of text set in angular sans-serif type. Alongside political appeals, advertisements for consumer goods also held their place in the towns, so a mixed wall looks more credible than pure agitation. The combination of the two also gives a scene a civilian dimension that is otherwise missing in models.
A Sicilian or Neapolitan street of 1943 suggests itself, with Allied vehicles rolling past unwiped slogans, and equally well a northern Italian town from the last phase of the war. On a small area the print can explain exactly where a scene stands, without your building another structure. For credible placement, though, set aside a quiet moment and try the layout out dry first.
The package contains the print itself; there is nothing else in it for using it.
