Wheels for the KamAZ-53949 Typhoon in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART are a resin replacement for the wheels on a finished model of the armored car, not a kit of the vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set of wheels in 1:35 scale for the Russian KamAZ-53949 armored car of the Typhoon family. The set is not a model of the vehicle, it is a replacement for the wheels on a kit already built. The resin casting renders the off-road tire pattern and the deeply shaped disc more sharply than injection molded plastic split into a mold can.
The KamAZ-53949 is the lighter member of the Russian Typhoon family of mine-resistant armored cars, built in a two-axle layout. Vehicles of this class stand on massive off-road tires of large diameter, which make up a striking part of their silhouette, and their appearance is therefore crucial to the fidelity of a model. The wheels also tend to be the place where simplification on a model is spotted fastest, because the tread block is deep and the sidewall carries prominent lettering.
Wash the castings in warm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surface so that the vehicle stands straight on all its wheels. It is glued with super glue. Before gluing, check on a flat board that all the wheels touch the base, and if the casting is made as loaded, turn the flat spot to the bottom. Paint the tire a very dark gray with a brown cast, go over the edges of the tread with a dry brush and lift the sidewall so that the relief of the lettering stands out. Paint the disc separately, as on modern vehicles it tends to be in the same shade as the body, so a masking circle or a careful brush makes the transition far cleaner.
This is a resin accessory, not a complete kit. The wheels are supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
