A finished replacement part for models of the Tiger II heavy tank, known in English as the King Tiger, in 1:35 scale. It replaces the barrel of the main weapon from the kit. According to the name it is cut for the Rye Field, Dragon, Meng and Trumpeter models.
The Tiger II carried an 88 mm gun designated KwK 43. The figure L/71 after the designation gives the length of the barrel in multiples of the caliber, so it is not the caliber but the slenderness of the weapon. The long barrel gave the shell a high muzzle velocity and in the field it was the most conspicuous feature of the whole vehicle; it reached far out beyond the bow and had to be watched when driving over rough ground.
A barrel from a kit tends to be split lengthwise, so after gluing a seam remains along its whole length. Sanding it out on such a long, thin part without losing the circular cross-section is work that a single part lets you avoid. A replacement barrel is also straight and does not warp.
Before fitting, compare the diameter of the pin with the hole in the turret and if necessary open it up carefully with a round file, so that you do not have to force it. Seat the part dry and check that the barrel points straight and does not droop. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the part; super glue holds on most materials. The package holds the barrel only. The tank model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
