On this profile, one side is twice as wide as the other, which makes it a versatile material for two different uses. Laid flat, it gives a low, wide strip or a sill; stood on edge, it gives a tall, narrow beam. From a single piece you therefore get two different elements without having to buy two profiles.
At this thickness, a knife score alone is no longer enough. The cleanest cut comes from a fine saw guided in a miter block, with the edge then evened out on sandpaper laid on a tabletop. When gluing larger contact areas, it is worth applying cement to both sides of the joint.
Degrease the surface before painting. A thin film is left on the profile from manufacturing, which will cause uneven coverage under a gloss finish. One piece measures 35 centimeters.
When building a structure, glue one plane first on a flat surface and let it dry. A frame assembled all at once will almost always warp, and there is no straightening it out afterward.
