The Kübelwagen Type 82 was a German light multipurpose car derived from the civilian KdF-Wagen (the later Beetle), designed by Ferdinand Porsche's engineering team. An air-cooled rear engine, low weight and a simple open body made it a reliable cross-country vehicle that served on every front. In the North African campaign it was the version with balloon tires that proved itself, since they improved mobility in soft sand. The vehicle became the German counterpart of the American Jeep, though with a different drive layout.
Glue the parts with thin plastic cement and clean up the mating surfaces. Paint the chassis and the interior before the body is closed up. Shades of sand yellow (Dunkelgelb, RAL Sandgelb) suit the desert scheme; choose the particular shade according to a verified reference. The look is completed by dust and mud effects with pigments and a light dry brush on the edges. The open body lets the interior show, so it is worth spending time on the seats, the instrument panel and the machine gun.
