This Aires resin detail set in 1:48 scale opens up and faithfully renders the forward gun bay of a model of the Northrop F-5E Tiger II. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the closed nose with an open gun bay with ammunition and technical structure. The set is intended for more experienced modelers with an interest in a detailed display.
The Northrop F-5E Tiger II is a light supersonic fighter powered by a pair of General Electric J85 turbojets. In its class it stood out for its low weight, agility and low running costs, and it was therefore exported widely to a number of countries. Its gun armament consisted of a pair of cannons housed in the forward fuselage.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent from the mold. Separate the parts from the casting blocks by cutting, not by snapping, and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand the resin with respiratory protection or wet, because resin dust is harmful. Bring out the interior with a wash and a dry brush so that the structure and the piping show.
It is supplied as an unglued and unpainted resin set. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
