An injection-molded plastic kit of the Lambro 550 motorized three-wheeler in 1:35 scale from Gecko Models. The package is conceived as a set of two vehicles in one box and it also contains a figure of a resting driver and small accessories such as sacks of cargo and a spare wheel. It is a rewarding diorama subject from Southeast Asia.
The Lambro 550 was a light utility motorized three-wheeler of Italian origin, widely used by the inhabitants of South Vietnam in the 1960s and 1970s. In the streets of Saigon it served as a cheap substitute for taxis and cabs, carried passengers and goods alike and became a characteristic element of the street scene of the day. Its simple construction with a small engine at the front, an open driver's cab and a flatbed rear reflected the everyday life of ordinary people and today it is one of the iconic symbols of Southeast Asia of that time.
Use liquid cement for plastic and separate the small parts carefully. It is best to paint the cab and the load area before the final assembly. For a lively period look, richer body colors, discreet scuffed paint and dust weathering on the wheels are the way to go. The driver figure and the cargo will help set the three-wheeler into a street diorama with a market or a row of houses.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
