Replacement wire wheels by Copper State Models for a model of the British Lanchester armored car in 1:35 scale. It is an accessory for a kit you already have, not a vehicle model.
The Lanchester was a British armored car of the First World War built on the chassis of a powerful passenger car. It served from 1915 with British naval units and later on the Eastern Front as well. Its characteristic feature was wire, that is spoked, wheels: in them the hub and the rim are joined by a set of tensioned steel wires, so the wheel is light and at the same time stiff. On a model, though, it is at the same time the element that injection-molded plastic imitates worst, because the spokes cannot be made thin enough in a mold and the gaps between them stay filled in.
Spoked wheels will not take rough handling. Separate the parts with a sharp knife or a fine saw, and when sanding watch out for the thin spokes. Paint them separately, off the model, because getting a brush between the spokes on a finished vehicle is thankless work. A dark base, lightening of the rim and the hub and finally dust pigments on the lower part of the wheel, where the most dirt collects, all work well. Fit the wheels right at the end of the build, ideally after the hull has been varnished and weathered.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
