An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous American amphibious tracked vehicle LVT-4 in 1:35 scale. Besides the plastic parts, the package from Italeri also holds photo-etched metal for fine detail and decals for several different forms; the set is aimed at the European theater (ETO).
The LVT (Landing Vehicle Tracked) vehicles were developed to give the American armed forces a means suited to amphibious landings. On the LVT-4 version the engine was moved to the middle part of the hull, which freed the rear space for a fold-down ramp. That allowed the quick loading and unloading of light vehicles, smaller-caliber guns or troops. The type was widely used in the Pacific and in the last year of the war in Europe.
We recommend assembling and testing the running gear before the hull is closed up. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. For a realistic look a base coat sprayed with an airbrush suits, followed by picking the detail out with a wash and dust or mud pigments on the lower areas and the tracks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
