The German M16 helmet in the detail version, 1:48 scale is an accessory for figures, the second variant of the same 1916 pattern steel helmet.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for figures, not a kit. The German 1916 pattern helmet is made in two versions and this is the one marked as the detail version. Check the difference against the basic version on the box. The helmet is fitted onto a figure's head or used as an item of equipment set down in a scene.
The 1916 pattern steel helmet is among the most easily recognized shapes of its time: deeply drawn edges cover the neck and the ears, and at the sides it carries two lugs, which served to hold an additional frontal plate and at the same time for ventilation. It was used from 1916 and in derived patterns the shape held through the whole of the 1920s and 1930s. It is a part that settles the period, so combine it with figures and equipment of the matching time.
Cut the part off the casting block, level the cut and sand it gently. Washing in lukewarm water with detergent is a must on small castings, as mold release agent otherwise repels the paint. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. A more finely worked casting is helped by a slower method: a thin filler primer, a matte base shade, a wash run under the edge and around the lugs, fine edge highlighting with a drybrush. Thin the paint and apply it in several thin coats, so that the lugs and the rim are not filled in.
This is an accessory for figures, not a kit on its own. Paints, glue and a figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
