Skis as winter equipment of the German army of the Second World War in 1:35 scale. An accessory for figures, for a vehicle or loose in a snowy scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
Skis belonged to the winter equipment of the German army throughout the Second World War. They were used by mountain and ski units, by patrols and by runners wherever snow stopped wheels and tracks and where a man moved faster on wood than on his own feet. In period photographs they appear propped against the wall of a farmhouse, tied and lashed to a vehicle or set aside in a makeshift position, so they belong in a winter scene as naturally as a shovel or a jerrycan.
The set brings skis in 1:35 scale. At this size they are legible even from a distance, so it pays to place them in a scene where the eye will find them: beside figures of winter units, on the side or bed of a vehicle as lashed-down equipment, or loose against a wall or a fence.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the underside stays flat. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and choose the glue according to the material; cyanoacrylate will serve universally. Wood looks best when you lay a thin brown glaze over a light undercoat and draw it out with a brush along the grain. Set the bindings and the fittings apart with a dark metal shade, and leave the running surface scuffed and free of snow, as if the skis really had been used.
For builders of winter dioramas and scenes with figures who lack the small thing that settles the season. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
