An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern American heavy rig for moving tanks: the M1070 road tractor and the M1000 low-bed semitrailer transporter (HETS, the Heavy Equipment Transporter System). It is an exceptionally extensive kit with a very high number of parts, a detailed cab and instrument panel, a well-worked frame and chassis, fuel tanks and a large number of wheels with rubber tires. In the package there are photo-etched parts, the steps, the grille and the anti-skid plates, and water-slide decals for two forms.
The US Army introduced the M1070/M1000 rig in the 1990s for moving the heaviest equipment. It carries a load of around 70 tons, above all Abrams main battle tanks but other large vehicles as well. The M1070 tractor comes from the maker Oshkosh and the M1000 transporter from a supplier in St. Louis. The result is an enormous vehicle with a large number of axles and wheels, which ranks among the largest wheeled machines in army service.
Reckon with the large dimensions: the finished model is long and takes up a lot of room, so bear that in mind when planning a cabinet or a diorama. Because of the number of wheels, spread the assembly of the tires and the axles over several sittings and paint the running gear separately. Glue the plastic with thin cement, and use a primer and an airbrush. On the large flat surfaces of the cab and the platform, gentle emphasis of the panels, washes into the detail and pigments for dust on the wheels and the chassis suit well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
