Self-adhesive masks for painting the wheels of a model of the M114 in 1:35 scale. It is neither a kit nor a set of parts, but an accessory for painting: the mask sets out the boundary between the rubber tire band and the wheel disc, so you spray the edge with an airbrush and do not have to run around it with a brush.
Before you use the set
The masks are cut to a particular wheel diameter, so lay them on the parts from your own kit before painting and check that they fit. The name of the set gives only the type designation without a variant, and more than one subject carries the designation M114: if you are not sure, compare the dimension of the wheel. A few tenths of a millimeter decide whether the edge will look clean.
Painting the road wheels is among the most tiresome parts of building an armored vehicle: it repeats on every wheel and a line drawn by hand never comes out the same twice. A ready-made mask mechanizes that work, the result is uniform and the time is counted in minutes instead of hours.
Spray the wheel with the dark color of the rubber and let it dry. Then lay the mask on the tire band, press it down all around with a soft wooden stick and apply the base shade of the vehicle over it. Spray straight on, in thin coats; a heavy coat bleeds under the edge. Once it is dry to the touch, take the masks off with tweezers. Any remaining microscopic shortcomings will reliably be hidden by dust weathering.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model and the paints are not included in the package.
