Road wheels of the M26 Dragon Wagon tractor in 1:35 scale replace the tires of the American heavy recovery tractor; the name specifies Firestone tires.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement for the wheels of the American M26 heavy tractor, which the crews nicknamed the Dragon Wagon. The name specifies Firestone as the maker of the tires, so this is one particular type of tires, not a universal part. The package is meant for building the tractor, and neither the vehicle itself nor the semi-trailer is in it.
The M26 was an armored six-wheeled tractor built for recovering and carrying damaged tanks away from the battlefield. It carried an armored cab with a machine gun cupola, massive winches and it towed a lowboy semi-trailer onto which even a Sherman fitted. Together with it, it formed a rig that belonged among the heaviest wheeled vehicles of the Allies during the campaign through Europe in 1944 and 1945; after the war these machines served on in Korea.
With a long rig it holds that all the wheels have to touch the base, so verify it on a flat board before the glue sets. The tread of a heavy tractor tended to be clogged with mud; apply it in layers from below and leave the upper part of the tire cleaner. The sidewalls of the tires will take a light graying, so that the black rubber does not come across flat. The rims and the hubs, on the contrary, leave in the shade of the vehicle, otherwise the wheel looks like a separate component glued under the fender.
