From the 1970s the series of military MAN trucks became the backbone of the German vehicle fleet. The five-ton version is two-axle, while heavier members of the family add a third and a fourth axle. The cab sits above the engine, and the bed was built in a flatbed, workshop and body-carrier rendition.
