Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Matilda Mk.III/IV infantry tank in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The model carefully captures the shapes of the real vehicle; the turret, the gun mantlet and the front of the hull carry a realistic cast metal texture. The part count of the complex suspension and hull is optimized for comfortable building. In the package there are various options of commander's cupolas and antennas, tank crew figures and decals for the North African battlefield.
The Matilda came about as a heavily armored infantry tank and became the main British tank in North Africa during the Second World War. Thanks to its massive armor it long kept the upper hand, and among German soldiers it earned the nickname Queen of the Desert. The weapon that finally proved effective against it was the famous 88 mm anti-aircraft gun used in the anti-tank role, during Operation Battleaxe near Tobruk in 1941, for example.
Before closing the hull, finish the running gear, which is so characteristic of the Matilda, and the side skirts over the tracks. Bring out the cast texture of the turret with a dry brush and gentle highlighting. A desert sand shade makes a good base; depth comes from dark washes in the recesses and from dust pigments on the lower areas. Wash the belt-type tracks free of any mold release agent before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
