Offering four sets of wheels for one vehicle sounds needless at first glance. It makes sense the moment more than one vehicle is being built. A column made up of identical machines looks like a display in a showroom, whereas vehicles with a different tread design gain their own history at once: one after a repair, a second with tires from another delivery, a third worn smooth. This rendering closes the four and differs from the rest in its design.
On this vehicle the replacement was carried in a bracket on the frame behind the cab, where it is perfectly exposed from the side. That is just why it is worth giving it more care than the wheels under the vehicle: it tended to be dusted differently, often had an older coat on the rim and not seldom a lashing strap lay across it. A model whose spare is simply white with dust like everything else loses an easy extra point.
The vehicle with a four-and-a-half-ton payload and drive to both axles was built from the end of the thirties at the brand's works in Baden. A six-cylinder diesel, simple construction and decent going across country made it a machine counted on in every theater where the German army operated.
Separate the castings with a cut, level the surfaces and check the seating on the stubs dry; only then glue with super glue.
An interesting feature of the subject was the cab, which was simplified during the war. While older examples had an all-metal rendering with rounded shapes, later series were given an angular wooden body and a single wiper arm. These economies did not touch the running gear.
