An injection-molded plastic kit of the historic Ford Model T passenger car in the Touring version of 1917 from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, so the builder puts it together, fills, sands and paints it themselves. The 1:35 scale is at home above all with ground equipment and figures, so the car can easily be joined into a diorama with vehicles and figures of the same size, which with models of historic cars is far from a given.
The Ford Model T ranks among the most significant cars in history. It was built from 1908 to 1927 and was the first car produced on a moving assembly line, which brought its price down so far that the automobile turned from a luxury into an ordinary means of transport. It was powered by an inline four-cylinder engine with a planetary transmission operated by pedals, that is, by controls that seem entirely alien to a driver today. The high-set chassis and the simple construction of the car allowed it to be driven even on the unpaved roads of the time. The Touring version was an open body with two rows of seats and a folding fabric roof. In the years this model falls into, the cars were supplied in black.
The model is made up of many small and thin parts, above all the fenders, the spoked wheels and the frame, so nip them off the sprue with a margin and sand the remains of the gate down. Glue with a thin cement for plastic applied with a small brush, as precisely mating parts will not take an excess of material. Glossy black paint is merciless to every groove, so it pays to level the surface first with a base coat and sand it back. Wooden and fabric parts look more believable when you accent them gently with a glaze after painting, and a matte or satin varnish with a discreet dust weathering on the wheels and fenders will unify the whole at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
