The Tiran 5 is an Israeli rebuild of captured Soviet medium tanks of the T-54 and T-55 series. The vehicles went through changes to armament, communications and equipment and carried a range of typically Israeli additions: stowage boxes, brackets, protective plates and modified hatches. Some of the machines were rearmed with a Western 105 mm gun. It is precisely the added sheet-metal features, baskets and clamps that are details injection-molded plastic cannot render at a thickness correct to scale.
Photo-etched brass can be softened considerably by annealing. Warm the part briefly over a small flame until it glows faintly and let it cool. The material then forms far more readily and does not spring back, which you will appreciate above all on curved sheet and baskets. Do not overdo it, because long and intense heating oxidizes brass needlessly. Make sharp-angle bends in a bending tool or between blades, always along the marked groove, and form curves over round stock of a suitable diameter, for instance over a drill bit or a pencil.
The set holds photo-etched parts, not a plastic kit. The glue, paints, tools and the base model are not included in the package.
