The photo-etched 1:35 Monstera leaves (flora) from Metallic Details is a scenic accessory for tropical dioramas: a set of large divided monstera leaves in 1:35 scale. It is not a model or a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of monstera leaves etched from thin metal sheet for a scene in 1:35 scale. The monstera has an unmistakable large leaf with deep cuts and holes, so even a single well placed plant puts a scene into a tropical setting at once. It is material for a diorama and a vignette, not a part for a model.
Large leaves are a problem on a model: made of paper they curl, made of plastic they tend to be thick and look coarse. Photo-etch solves both, because it is thin in scale and at the same time holds the shape you give it. With the monstera that is crucial, because it is exactly the bending and drooping of a large leaf that makes the plant come alive. A metal base also carries stronger patina and glazing.
Separate the leaves from the fret with a scalpel or nippers and sand the burr away. Shape them gradually: first bend the main rib, then the individual lobes by pressing them into a soft surface. Apply a metal primer before painting. The monstera is a deep dark green with a marked gloss on the upper side and a lighter underside, so it pays to paint the two sides separately and to lighten the underside by a shade. Bring out the veins with a thin glaze or with drybrushing. Glue the finished leaves with cyanoacrylate glue onto stems of wire wrapped in string or putty.
The package contains photo-etched leaves. Paints, glue and stems are not part of it.
