Eduard offers a full photo-etched set for the Nashorn in 1:35 scale. It is not a reduced selection of the Zoom kind but an extensive collection of metal parts meant for a thorough refinement of a model. The brand comes from the Czech Republic and has devoted itself to etch for a long time.
The Nashorn was an improvised but exceptionally effective self-propelled carrier for an 88 mm anti-tank gun with a long barrel. It stood on a common chassis derived from the Panzer III and IV tanks, had an open fighting compartment enclosed only by thin shields and was used to destroy targets at great distances. Range made up for the protection of the crew: the vehicle was to fire from a distance and change position in good time.
The photo-etched parts replace the places where plastic would have to be thicker than reality: the fenders and their brackets, grilles, tool clamps, hinges and small fittings. It is exactly the thin plates of the open superstructure that an injection mold can never capture. The set is put together with cyanoacrylate glue; make the bends in a bending tool or between two razor blades and shape long strips gradually, not in one movement.
The set is an accessory for a kit; it holds neither the model itself nor paints.
