The Flyhawk wooden deck lines paint mask 1.3 mm is a self-adhesive masking stencil for the seams between planks, in a coarser width for larger scales.
Responsibility details are not available.
A self-adhesive masking stencil for ship models. It is stuck onto the finished deck coat, sprayed over in a darker shade, and once removed it leaves regular parallel seams between the planks. This version has a line width of one and three tenths of a millimeter, considerably coarser than the fine stencils intended for small scales; it suits cases where the deck is larger and the seams are meant to show at first glance.
The surface has to be smooth and completely dry. Lay the stencil on, press the edge down carefully and spray the paint in thin coats, so that no ridge forms at the edge. Remove the mask while the coat is only touch-dry, and pull it off at an angle and slowly. With the coarser line the pitch is greater, so plan in advance where a seam will start, so that the pattern on the deck runs on correctly. The pitch of the lines is fixed, so the mask only fits if it matches the plank width on your model; on a different deck a pattern will appear that does not meet the molded seams. Before sticking the mask over the whole area, try a short section in a less conspicuous place.
For ship modelers working in larger scales and for makers of dioramas with planked surfaces. Anyone building in small scales will reach for the finer width in the same range.
Ventilate while spraying and protect your airways. Store the mask on a backing, away from dust.
