The figure opens up a subject that appears only rarely in 1:35: an ordinary street with cars, a curb, a hydrant and people. Take care when choosing the accompanying hardware; car kits are most often made in 1:24 and 1:25, and such a vehicle will look conspicuously large beside a figure in 1:35. Keep to vehicles and accessories in the same scale, then, or the scene will lose its credibility before you have finished painting it.
The dark blue-gray uniform of a city police force is rewarding but easily merges into one flat area. An underpainting a tone darker in the folds and fine brightening of the edges helps; black as a base is not recommended, because at a small scale it takes the shape away. Wash the casting before painting, cut off the casting remains and sand the seams with your airways protected. Finish the belt accessories and the footwear in a glossier shade; a difference in gloss sets leather apart from fabric.
