Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory from the Armour Models brand brings tracks for a model of the Soviet P-40 radar station, also listed under the designation 1S12. It is a separate set for builders who want to replace the running gear with a more worked-out rendition than the basic model offers. The name is in Slovak, as with the rest of this manufacturer's line.
The P-40 is a mobile surveillance radar of Soviet design that provided air surveillance for anti-aircraft units. So that the station could cope with terrain off hard roads, the designers set it on a heavy tracked chassis derived from an artillery tractor. The result was an unusually tall machine with a large rotating antenna that looks quite different on a diorama from an ordinary tank and catches the attention at once.
Tracks under a heavy station bring out its weight, so it pays to let the upper run sag slightly between the return rollers. We recommend finishing the assembly and letting it cure before fitting it to the running gear, so that the whole can be handled. In color a dark metallic base suits, then rusty tones and finally dust settled between the links; the contact surfaces are then polished to a shine, because steel on the track tread wears to a mirror.
