A formed Zimmerit set, Eduard Zimmerit for the Panther Ausf. D (vertical pattern), in 1:35 scale. It is not a model but a set applied to one, imitating the anti-magnetic coating.
Responsibility details are not available.
A formed Zimmerit set from the Czech maker Eduard for the German medium tank Panther in the Ausf. D version in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but a detailing accessory that imitates faithfully the texture of the Zimmerit anti-magnetic coating in its vertical variant. The set does away with laborious hand application of putty and gives an even, period-accurate relief on both the hull and the turret.
Zimmerit was a paste-like compound applied to German armored vehicles during the Second World War as protection against magnetic antitank mines. It was applied in a pattern formed with a scraper, and the profile differed between individual types and manufacturers. The Panther Ausf. D was the first production version of this successful medium tank, in use from 1943 onward.
Separate the parts gently, lay them on the relevant surfaces and press them down. We recommend working with a sharp knife and tweezers and allowing for the shaping around hatches and superstructures. Once they are glued down, the surface can be weathered further with washes and pigments, which show to advantage in the relief of the coating. Before gluing, check that the surface of the model is clean and even.
The accessory does not include the model itself, glue or paints. It is intended for completing an existing kit.
