The most extensive grade of a masking set in 1:48 scale from New Ware. It is neither a kit nor a model of the helicopter but an accessory for painting. The templates are cut from Japanese kabuki paper, that is, from thin washi paper with a gentle adhesive. The paper adapts well to rounded and convex surfaces and leaves no adhesive residue behind when removed. The EXPERT grade stands above the smaller BASIC grade, which is also offered for the same subject.
The Mi-24 is a heavy attack helicopter that, besides weapon pylons on its stub wings, also carries a compartment for carrying people. The P version differs from the earlier forms in its armament: instead of a trainable turret under the nose it has a fixed cannon on the right side of the forward fuselage. Characteristic of the whole type is the stepped tandem cockpit with very heavily divided glazing, bulged transparencies and a row of small panes, so an extensive masking set really does save a lot of time here.
Degrease the surface and let it dry. Lift the masks with tweezers, seat them accurately and press the edge down along its whole length with a stick. On convex surfaces lay the paper down from the center toward the edges. Spray several thin coats and ideally spray the edge with the shade of the base first. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried. Sort the small pieces in advance, as they are easily lost.
This is an accessory for painting, not a kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package. Check before you buy that the set matches the kit you want to use it on.
