An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Panzer IV medium tank in the Ausf. D version in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The kit allows the standard Ausf. D tank to be built, or its wading Tauchpanzer conversion, and that in three states (combat, preparing to submerge and ready to submerge). The package holds a detailed running gear, metal wire and a photo-etched fret.
The Tauchpanzer, literally diving tank, was the wading conversion of the Panzer III and Panzer IV for the planned invasion of England (Operation Seelöwe). The vehicles were to be carried across the English Channel, lowered to the bottom and driven across the sea floor to the shore. The conversion covered sealing the engine, an exhaust with check valves, a rubber seal for the turret ring and watertight covers for the vision ports and the machine gun.
Decide in advance whether you are building the standard Ausf. D or the wading version with its sealing fittings. Assemble the running gear and the tracks separately. An airbrush suits the early-war German gray; complete the wear with rubbing, washes and pigments, and on the wading version you can suggest traces of damp and mud.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
