A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard of Obrnice near Most, intended to add detail to a plastic model of the Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. F tank in 1:35 scale. The parts are etched from thin sheet metal and replace or supplement plastic parts that cannot be molded in a realistic thickness. The set does not make up a model — you need a matching plastic kit to go with it.
The designation carries no further subtitle, which is usual for Eduard's photo-etched ranges. Sets of this kind for armored vehicles usually deal with elements such as thin sheet-metal covers, grilles, tool brackets and other small external fittings, where the difference between plastic and sheet metal is obvious at first glance. The Panzerkampfwagen IV was a German medium tank of the Second World War, built in several production versions. The Ausf. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with pliers. Make the bends in a bending tool so that the edges are sharp. Degrease the metal and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with an adhesive made for photo-etched parts. On bare metal use a base color made for metal. On armored vehicles, fit the photo-etched parts before the final painting so that the detail is drawn into the washes and pigment effects; mud and dust effects then bring out the etched grilles and brackets.
This is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
