Why the emptiness between them has to stay

The package carries two lamps, and the value of this pair lies in the gap between them. Park lighting stands at regular intervals and the viewer knows this rhythm; as soon as the scene offers it, they will supply the rest of the avenue themselves, even though it ends at the edge of the base. The empty place between two lamps therefore works just as hard as the lamps themselves, and it is a mistake to fill it with further accessories.

The set is made up of six resin parts and a fret of photo-etched parts, that is, three castings per lamp. A lower park fitting has a simpler construction than the street version, but it tends to be more ornate, and it is precisely that ornament the photo-etched parts take care of.

What scene it suits

Its natural setting is a park, a promenade, a courtyard or the garden of a villa. In a military scene the pair suits a place where it is meant to be clear that fighting has entered a cultivated space: the tracks of a vehicle on a gravel path between two untouched lamps say more about the intrusion into civilian life than a demolished wall does.

The build

It is advisable to set both fittings up slightly differently, even though they come from the same mold: a slight difference in lean and in the degree of wear keeps the pair from looking like copies. The castings are cleaned up and degreased, and the photo-etched elements are bent over a sharp edge. Paints and lighting are not included.

The cast iron posts of park lighting tend to have a base wider than the shaft, so they seat well straight into a gravel path even without hidden anchoring.

The gravel path between the two fittings takes a finer grain than the surrounding terrain.
